Our Fleet Goes Electric

Carlisle’s largest business park have started to replace their fleet with the introduction of a new 100% electric van, a change which will save hundreds of tonnes of Co2.

Kingmoor Park operates 24/7 security which involves patrolling the site several times a day and covering almost 40,000 miles per year. The new electric van will cover the same distance and will not produce any emissions, what’s more, it is fuelled from power created from the on-site solar farm. The solar farm was completed last year and installed by North Lakes Energy.

The management team are committed to making changes towards a sustainable future with their long-term goal being to use only renewable energy sources. 2020 saw the completion of a 4-acre solar farm which has already meant a reduction in the need to use non-renewable sources for energy. Plans for the future include further introduction of onsite power generation, adding electric vehicle charging points and replacing the remaining vehicles in their fleet with electric.

Speaking on plans to reduce the carbon footprint of the site, Kingmoor Park’s Managing Director, Neil McIntyre said;

“We have a private electricity supply at Kingmoor Park which means that all our energy needs including the 200 businesses on site, street lighting etc comes from one supply. Ensuring that this supply is reliable and has the capacity to grow is crucial so the introduction of onsite power generation is a big step forward.

As a team we are committed to making changes which will reduce our carbon footprint which is why replacing our fleet vehicles with electric is so important. There are various charging points around Kingmoor Park at different businesses which is really encouraging to see.”
